TRANSPARENCY

Mandatory special prosecutors

Too many people in Baltimore City have been made victims of civil rights abuses by local law enforcement. Nowhere is this more obvious than in our city's Black communities. Rarely are officers held accountable, and when they are, there is an inevitable lack of public confidence in a process where officers are held to account by their friends and colleagues.

When the relationship between community and police is strained, crimes can go unsolved - and none of us wants that. To begin restoring public trust in our city's law enforcement, we need special prosecutors in cases of police misconduct, so that no officer can violate your civil rights and any officer charged with a violation is prosecuted impartially.
